Åndalsnes is a town at the mouth of Romsdal valley in the western county of Møre og Romsdal. It has attracted some unfavorable comments on travel boards but it's a superbly located transport hub and the Romsdal valley is one of the most monumental and romantic valleys of Norway. Åndalsnes itself is merely a village, but the valley and surrounding mountains and fjords are among the greatest in Norway. Åndalsnes is a center for mountaineering in Norway and calls itself an "alpine town at the fjord". The Romsdal valley and its iconic summits have attracted countless artists since the early 1800s.

Åndalsnes is a town in Rauma Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. Åndalsnes is in the administrative center of Rauma Municipality. It is located along the Isfjorden, at the mouth of the river Rauma, at the north end of the Romsdalen valley. The village of Isfjorden lies about 7 kilometers (4.3 mi) to the east, Veblungsnes lies just to the west across the Rauma, and Innfjorden lies about 10 kilometers (6.2 mi) to the southwest via the European Route E136 highway.

In 2017 the 2.23-square-kilometre (550-acre) town had a population of 2,403 and a population density of 1,078 inhabitants per square kilometre (2,790/sq mi).Åndalsnes has an association football club, Åndalsnes IF. The local church is Grytten Church, but it's actually located across the river in Veblungsnes. The harbour is called "Tindekaia" and is visited every year by many cruise ships.
