Introduction

Casa Barangé is a true jewel of Catalan architecture from the 1930s. Fruit of the hand of the Group of Catalan Architects and Technicians for the Progress of Contemporary Architecture (GATCPAC), it was designed by Ricard Churruca and is considered a masterpiece of rationalism.

A masterpiece of Catalan rationalism

Casa Barangé was built in 1932 and is located in the Sarriá neighborhood of Barcelona. This rationalist-style house was designed by Ricard Churruca, one of the most prominent members of the GATCPAC. It is a cubic body with a single floor, with an exposed brick façade and a free floor plan. The interior of the house is divided into two areas: the service area, which is located at the rear, and the living area, which is located at the front. The latter has a large living room with a gallery that overlooks an interior patio.

La Casa Barangé is an essential visit for lovers of rationalism. The tour begins on the ground floor, where the main entrance and the great hall are located. From here, there is access to the gallery at the back of the house, with views of the interior patio. You can also access the service area, where the kitchen, laundry and bathroom are located. The upper floor is dedicated to the bedrooms, which are located at the front of the house. This floor also has a terrace that offers a panoramic view of the city.
