Villa Jazmines, more popularly known as the “Torre Rosa” (Pink House), is one of the summer residences built by the indianos when they returned from overseas. Located at the intersection of Carrer Pinar del Río and Carrer Francesc Tàrrega, before Carrer de Cuba, it is a symbol of the neighbourhood of Els Indians. It was designed by the architect Ferran Tarragó in 1920 and commissioned by José Racionero Torres.
The Pink House in Barcelona
Villa Jazmines still retains its central tower, old balcony, and the palm trees in the garden. From the 1950s until 1987, it housed the Ferton school, and then it was turned into a musical bar, hence the name Torre Rosa. The house has become a symbol of the neighbourhood, and is a popular tourist destination.
The Other Towers of Els Indians
Villa Jazmines is not the only tower in the neighbourhood. Can Biosca, designed by Domènec Biosca i Galcerán, is another example of the stately towers in Els Indians. The Torre de l'Italià, designed by Reinaldo Balanzasca, is located on Carrer Jordi de Sant Jordi. Finally, the Torre de Gallinaire, owned by Carmen Palomé, the poultry businesswoman, can be found on Carrer Francesc Tàrrega.
