Bryansk Oblast is a region in Russia's Chernozemye region, bordering Belarus to the west, Smolensk Oblast to the north, Kaluga Oblast to the northeast, Oryol Oblast to the east, Kursk Oblast to the southeast, and Ukraine to the south.
Bryansk Oblast (Russian: Бря́нская о́бласть, Bryanskaya oblast), also known as Bryanshchina (Russian: Брянщина, pronounced) is a federal subject of Russia (an oblast). Its administrative center is the city of Bryansk. As of the 2010 Census, its population was 1,278,217.
